In CO you can’t get on the waitlist until the kiddo is 14. It artificially shrinks the waitlist.

And most group homes and inpatient center in red states are HORRIBLE. Low pay and very high turnover around rate causes abuse and neglect. Especially if it’s a for profit center or “home”

My son was put on the waiting list for two years I just got the call yesterday to get his first appointment to get the evaluation. It took 4 years to get my youngest diagnosed this year in July

My non verbal son’s insurance has denied each claim from occupational and speech therapy and said it was because we used all of our therapy up for the year. 🤦🏼♀️they’ve never paid for any session

for my son it took 2 years for a diagnosis, then early intervention started March 2020 so he had no in person speech until school and that was only 15 min a week. its insane

The services also are entry-level positions most of the time for things like ABA therapy so you’re getting a 20-year-old who has no idea about your child running these programs with them.

I don’t know why more young doctors aren’t moving into the field! We live in a huge city and we have like 1 developmental pediatrician and he’s ancient and out dated with his methods

We got the call in July for them to have the initial meeting. They said they'll reach out to us in 2 months for the secondary setup for eval. Mind you I placed him on the list back in October

The most frustrating waiting game! Took 2.5 years to get my boys their diagnosis and into aba. And the whole time you have guilt like you’re not doing enough but literally all you can do is wait

My son was 4 before he got diagnosed because of Covid backlog . Luckily I advocated early before his diagnosis to get speech and OT instead of waiting for his diagnosis

Get on the waitlist for social security disability too. That wait list is 10+ years as well. Especially if you have a child that will not be able to live on their own or work.

Texas Children in Houston just laid off over 1400 therapists!!! My granddaughter lost all of her therapy, OT and PT. People who don’t have a disabled children have no clue what we go through.

For Down syndrome assistance they told me 15 years for medical assistance voucher and 18 years for living assistance after 18 so I needed to apply at birth so maybe he could get assistance
