During the battles against the White Whale and the Witch Cult, she constantly put her life on the line for him. When Subaru was ready to give up on everything, Rem gave him her famous inspirational speech ("From Zero"), giving him the strength to stand up and become a hero again. 4. Loss of Memories and Existence Shortly after the White Whale battle, Rem was ambushed by Ley Batenkaitos, the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony. Gluttony devoured both Rem's name and memories. As a result, she fell into a comatose state, and her entire existence was erased from the world's memory—leaving Subaru as the only person who still remembers her.
