My uncle was bitten by a cotton mouth on his ankle years ago while he was working in his yard. Not as serious of a bite but I remember his foot swelling like a balloon. Can’t imagine a taipan bite.

There was a woman I used to follow who had poisonous/venomous amphibians, all her cages had clear identification, anti venom location &handling instructions incase she was incapacitated

My 70 pound dog had to have 5 vials of antivenin when he got bit by a copperhead. It was almost $3000. I cant fathom this scenario

I did not know anti venom was expensive and had a tight expiration date. For some reason I figured it must be abundant. I’m even more afraid of snakes now

Spent the entire video going back-and-forth between “wait is this a metaphor for gun control? No, it’s too specific to venom, bullets don’t work like that… but is it still a metaphor anyway? …Noo?

I don't know how people can be comfortable with that type of risk when knowing how complicated it is to get antivenom at all. This was an insane story (I dont own reptiles but I do like them)

I thought he was too reckless and I was shocked he didn’t have anti venom. I was of the understanding if you had non local hot snakes that you should have your own anti venom

😅I use to obsessively watch Venom ER and the number of vials on antivenin for native venomous snakes alone was lesson enough for me to look at people who play with hots like that like dead men.👀😬

I knew nothing about a taipan, still don't really "know" but I followed simply for how well you explain things.

My cousin got bit by a rattlesnake and it took 47 vials of antivenom for the one bite. Isn’t it possible it would take several vials to save him?

having the antivenom does not guarantee he won't die either immediately or in the future from the effects of it. venom is like a catastrophic allergic reaction that doesn't stop...the antivenom acts..

100% agree with everything you said here. We have one venomous snake where I work and the venom drill we run every year are harrowing.

The anti-venom for my son's copperhead bite was 40k. The dose is based on weight. He was 2 yrs old. 13 now and fine, but it was SO scary.

Im an ER nurse, I gave antivenom a few years ago for a rattle snake bite in the thumb, each vial was 15k$ and he needed 10 vials and a stay in the ICU, so 150k$ plus hospital charges 😳

Grew up in the bayou area of Houston. Learned to recognize rattlers, copperheads and moccasins, the lesson? Leave them alone, especially if they are babies.

Oh geeze. Apparently he reported the snake bite at 2am, didn’t say it was a venomous snake until 9am and may have never said it was an IT. So 7 hours to even consider anti venom.
