It's terrifying. I get this sometimes (and stuck closed too) and the only way I can fix it is to relax my jaw as much as I can and shake my head really hard. Glad yours got unstuck.

Happens to me often sadly. I put a heating pad under my chin, icepack on the top joints and my ears, and after ice I massage the iced area and temples it will relax a bit then and pops back on its own, ice&heat stops the strain pain and cramping I get in the meantime.
