I remember dad cooking mutton bird when I was a kid. The smell of them cooking had me so nauseated I couldn’t enter the house. Unfortunately that’s all I remember about mutton birds 😁

When you say boil them twice, does that mean dump water and start with fresh water? Does that get rid of gamey taste?

I remember Mum drooling over the pot waiting for Titi to cook...whilst all us kids bolted for outdoors from the smell! Mum was so happy none of us wanted to eat it, more for her. 🤣

Mutton bird is one of the traditional Australian foods just not European Australian I really with they would showcase traditional Australian food in Aus native food
