@sheisapaigeturner: Anyone who has kids or talks to parents has likely felt this, but the numbers from @USAfacts.org make it clear: childcare is unaffordable in every single state. Have you been impacted by the childcare crunch? Here’s the simple math: if you’re paying more than 7% of your family’s annual income on childcare, it’s considered unaffordable by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Not a single state in the country meets that benchmark. From personal experience, we pay more than 20% of our annual income! Have you been impacted by the childcare crunch? Made in partnership with @USAFacts.org #JustTheFacts

I was shopping at Aldi’s while my nanny was buying a dining room set and bragging about it on Facebook. 😔

I quit my job in Dec 2023. Half of my paycheck was going to child care. It wasn’t worth the extra money & stress working full time created in our household. (It Cost us $34k in 2023)

Literally I have talked to multiple people at my husband's work just scraping by making over 100k a year bc 20k for childcare. Then they breath easy for that 6-12k private school tuition. crazy!

Childcare costs is an issue but so many SAHMs claim their “job” is worth over 100k a year. So if it’s worth that much then why complain that someone’s charging a lot for it

People need to stop turning to the government for answers. Less government is better.

With UPK state assistance, we’re still paying just over 30% of our income on childcare for our two kids. Definitely hurts.

100% I’m so lucky to have both grandmas retired and willing to help out. I work as a nurse 3 days a week so it’s the only way we can make it work.

we get judged if we have kids or not( which they want us to have kids) they also take away the stuff that helps prevent us from having kids and no one wants to make child care affordable

I’m just not sure what the answer is tho. They keep asking the candidates. can they force daycares to lower prices? Do we want to give tax credits (someone is paying)? Need to go back to in home care

Wouldn't the simplest solution be to just refuse to have kids?

I quit my job to stay home with my son, and although I’m blessed. I’m lonely and miss working, but it didn’t make sense to go back with the cost of childcare.

We spend 15% of our income for 1 child to go to daycare, pickup help 2 days a week and summer camp for the oldest.

Math time. The US median household income is $80k. You send your little one to childcare 5 days a week and 52 weeks a year. Say 9 hours a day. So daycare shouldn’t cost you more than $2.39 an hour.
