endometriosis was debilitating for me, I used to be scalded with hot water bottles, had surgery after surgery. had hysterectomy last year...just ran the great north run for endometriosis UK this year

It doesn’t help when doctors fob it off as ‘just bad periods’ for years 😕 the NHS waitlist was so long I had to go private which cost over £6k for my laparoscopy.

I had hysterectomy at 29, endo was everywhere. Was told by my gp for 8 years I had IBS and given peppermint capsules until I saved and went private.

I was diagnosed at 26, I'd been in terrible pain since my first period when I was 10. I'm now 47, save 1 operation at 28 I've had NO INTERVENTION from the NHS despite being in pain and ill for yrs

I can't even get the operation to check mine as I've had to be on contraception to stop my periods which makes me gain weight but I have to lose weight for the op, but I can't... :(

I only find out I had endometriosis when I was 40 back in 2020 while I was getting operated to remove 14 fibroids..

my daughter is 18 just been diagnosed with this, she started her period at 14, this was the first time she had pain with her period, she ended up in hospital as we didn't know what it was

I had my surgery in March. My pain didn’t go, it worsened. My consultant told me there’s nothing he can do and to keep taking ibuprofen. So yeah, it ain’t nice.

I’ve suffered with the worst period pains and heaviness for my whole life. I got told it wasn’t normal but there wasn’t anything they could do. I then pushed for a scan which showed a small cyst **

I have stage 4 had a full hysterectomy last July I’m still waiting for my follow apt from that now and told my apt won’t be till 2025 even tho my symptoms are already back after my surgery last year !

The pain is like labour pains in fact I didn’t realise I was in labour as I was used to that kind of pain for 3 out of 4 weeks every month
