Fast forward to today. Same theory, applied to the Oil industry and the Stock Market. Money is tied up in oil investments, hence ANY other form of energy is “bad” and climate change doesn’t exist

Sounds similar to what I hear about the ultra-wealthy do now. Their worth is tied up in stocks and properties, so they taken out loans to make large purchases that are payed back by their dividends

This is how wealth works today. Taxing the rich doesn't work because wealthy people use asset back loans and unrealized gains as collateral as income not jobs. which is why the ultra wealthy don't want tax code changes because it would be detrimental to their lifestyle
