The idea of only being functional while I'm at work is unacceptable

“instantaneous” was a poor choice of words, it normally takes around an hour depending on the specific medication

I need the medicine every day. Taking a break from it makes me feel anxious, confused and lethargic at times. That is the part many do not understand.

Do you know if this information is based off of studies done on males? I’m curious how hormones affect these findings? During luteal phase my medications feel as though they don’t work as well.

I used to find taking med breaks led to low mood and extreme tiredness but taking a mix of brain health and mood boosting supplements has been a game changer

Time perception changes are the most shocking change I’ve experienced with these. An unmedicated day feels very short (~4h long) and a medicated day feels like a full length day?

I heard someone say ‘you can skip it on the days you don’t have ADHD’ and suddenly I felt much better about the fact that I take them every day.

Stimulants are also extremely taxing on the adrenals & burning out adrenals have similar symptoms as adhd, the more meds you take, the worst you feel off of them or they feel like they don't work.

1. Got diagnosed with ADHD and psych identified some BED. Put me on vyvanse 30mg, didn’t even tickle me. Upped my dose to 60mg, still can’t notice a difference. When I mentioned caffeine and energy

I’ve told my doctor that I’m a 24-hour person. The stimulants affect a lot more than motivation. They also help with mood regulation. The problem is stimulants are many dev cycles behind other meds.

I was diagnosed with depression, got SSRI and olanzapine. The effect for me was almost immediate. Maybe 2 days of drowsiness and no mood change, but after that, damn... I was a new person, why?

the effects of not taking my medication for a week is unthinkable. a day renders me next to useless. and it's not just the fatigue but the things with ADHD that I find the most debilitating are awful and for some of us coming off for a couple of days or a week is not viable

Finally someone with information that validates my experience. I'm 54 and not one med has ever worked long term, they started when I was 5. I find switching up caffeine sources and amounts works best.

see as someone who uses them and has 2 (soon to be 3) kids on them I fervently disagree. when taking consistently there is also a mental stability that comes with that and increased confidence in one

I loved taking weekend breaks and it worked best for me and my needs. My doctor and nurse supported this but the adhd specialist did not. He said because adhd is a disorder I have a responsibility...
