I think the first season was like a pilot season almost so they only gave them so many, season 2 was the goal, season 3 was affected by the writers strike, fingers crossed season 4 is back to 20+ eps

Season 1 was short cause it's mid season, and Season 3 had the strikes. Season 2 is the normal amount for this show and it's what it's going back to

Season 1 was short bc first seasons often come out during mid season tv cycle, but have to end by late spring. S2 was intended lenght. S3 was shorter bcs of the writers strike last year.
