This is so interesting! This also explains why mexican spanish is so different, we have romani, arabic and germanic words in our language along with nahuatl etc

There’s also “jeta” informal word for “face”, and I suspect “varo” (money) may come from “baró”, as in the coins of *big* denomination. I wonder if “chucho” (dog) may come from “chuquel” 🤔

In Argentina we also use the word Choro/Chorro to mean thief, and chorear is to steal. Lunfardo has many loanwords from Caló and Romani language.

Literally I grew up hearing and using almost all of these words. My grandpa always used to say “ay chingado” but pronounced “chingao” so this was really cool to hear. Yes I know what it means 😂😭

These words are linked due to Latin and Sanskrit sharing common roots .. so by extension.. Spanish and Romani would have common grounds based on this
