As someone who works in the railroad industry let me tell you that this was the best possible outcome. If a train could stop on a dime, the derailment that would follow would be much worse.

In America do they not have sensors/safety measures to prevent crashes? In my country if the track is blocked by crossings while the train is still quite far out and if there’s an issue it can stop
