this is probably why I don't trust my own opinions of things and need to be reassured that my thoughts are reasonable.

That's parental attunement - something that so many of us desperately needed and never received.

was harsh to myself cause of my sensitivity my whole life. lately therapist told me "your nervous system receives much more information than average. you're not overreacting, you do feel all this"

this is why I don't believe my own pain or hunger, I was told to get over myself and I'm being dramatic or I can't be hungry bc I just ate

My inner child needed to hear these things. I wonder how different life would’ve been if I had heard these things rather than being kicked and shouted at during a meltdown

Maybe I’d have a better relationship with my mom if she listened to me. That’s why I always trust my kids.

I never understood why my parents never believed me on things like this. As an adult with my own kids, listening and helping is sooooo much easier and better for both of us

You mean we should be kind and compassionate because our children are human. 🥰 It's almost like this is how it always should have been. ❤️

I’m feeling better about how I parented my autistic child now. We didn’t know she was autistic but believed her. She’s a great almost adult now❤️

I recently came to the realization that the reason I believe everyone is an adult is that no one believed me as a child.

this is so helping & validating. and so underrated because this is why I don't know my.own needs as an adult because I've been told its fine all my life. when it's not.

never thought about how this was just me as a child. idk why we go to gaslighting kids (neurodivergent or not) rather than thinking about how they experience life totally differently to how adults do!

Currently in the process of peeling off masking layers like sheets of tissue paper... I didn't even realise I was wearing most of them. I'm sure there are still hundreds under this newest layer.

I agree COMPLETELY! My only concern is I have 4 kids like this AND I'm like this and there are not enough hours in the day to let us all have our feelings and accommodations. I'm trying...
