These days, everything the US announces is to “counter China”. Maybe they should be asking themselves why so many countries prefer to work with China instead of the US. Senators Mark Kelly, Marco Rubio, and Rick Scott have teamed up across party lines to introduce the Strategic Port Reporting Act. This legislation is designed to address the growing threat from China’s expanding influence in global ports, which poses risks to U.S. national security, trade routes, and supply chains. The bill calls on the Department of Defense to create a strategy to counter the influence of Chinese companies in key ports around the world. 🔹 China’s global maritime expansion, including acquiring stakes in major ports, is seen as a threat to U.S. economic and national security interests. 🔹 Senator Kelly emphasized the importance of securing U.S. ports from Chinese influence. 🔹 Senator Rubio highlighted the need to protect Florida’s critical ports from potential adversaries. 🔹 Senator Scott stressed the importance of safeguarding U.S. infrastructure from Chinese control.
