How do I get health insurance even though I’m self-employed?  There’s 3 options for full coverage (Parita can help you choose the best option for your individual situation)   1. Employer Coverage: ONLY available for YOU if you’re a full time employee (or the spouse or underage child of the full time employee) ✅Covers all preventative care ✅Covers maternity but….. ❌It’s VERY expensive for couples and families ❌The only time you can make changes is if you have a qualifying life event ❌SUPER expensive for travelers, and deductibles reset if you change companies frequently or take time off between contracts (travel nurses) 2. Obamacare Coverage: ✅Covers all preventative care ✅Pre-existing conditions won’t prevent you from coverage ✅Covers maternity care but…. ❌It’s best for low income families and singles with low income - VERY expensive for couples and families who are not low income ❌You are paying FULL PRICE for everything until you meet your deductible: doctor visits, medications, blood work, etc. only preventative care is covered at 100% ❌Very limited networks (HMO plans) ❌Coverage is limited to zip code and county, not nationwide. So if you travel OR do PRN nursing out of state, this might not be a good option.  3. Private plans (*this is the coverage I have*):  ✅PPO Nationwide coverage (in all 50 states) ✅More affordable premiums  ✅Low deductibles (as low as $0) ✅Covers a majority of preventative care ✅You can’t be dropped once approved but…. ❌It doesn’t cover maternity delivery  ❌Not everyone qualifies (based on current health status) ❌Some states have restrictions on private plans (CA & NY) ❌Doesn’t cover all vaccines at 100%
