God this is so true. We are a heavy RP group.They wanted to use xp this campaign and we will go two or three sessions without combat. I’ve started giving them 500 XP In the sessions with no combat.

Side note though, was playing Baldur’s Gate 3, we have to destroy a sturdy door, so we used Karlach as she had the axe. Made easy work of the door… then she leveled up from 1 to 2. We laughed so hard

Idk if y’all would ever see this but the DM should try off of nothing but imagination and use white dice for positive and black for negative (20 sided) to see what happens next it makes it exicting 1.

This is a thing that makes me interested in Draw Steel, their leveling system is based on Victories, but Victories don't have to be combat 1/

This is why my group levels up every 7th session. Just like that, no conditions, no milestones. That sat us free. And whenever XP are needed by the rules we are using gaming days as currency. Easy. 🙂
