@chasseurdesons: The sounds of life in a dead tree 🌳 While walking through a small forest in Quebec, I came across a dead tree with a strange appearance. On its surface, I noticed galleries carved by emerald ash borer larvae. These larvae create feeding galleries that disrupt the tree's system for transporting water and nutrients. The emerald ash borer was accidentally introduced to North America, where it has spread throughout much of the eastern forests, devastating native ash species that are now severely threatened, making it an invasive species 🪳 I decided to take out my contact microphone to record the vibrations of life on this dying tree. Even in death, the tree shelters a vibrant world of life. Under its bark, you can hear the murmurs of insects and organisms. #nature #sound #Science #fyp #pourtoi
