@xiyebastida: I am so extremely honored to have received the 2024 @dvf Leadership Award! The first time I met Diane I was impressed by her spirit, her dedication to supporting women, and most of all, by her philosophy of not only seeing leadership in others, but supporting that leadership. 100% of this award will be used for @reearthinitiative’s Re-Granting program, which will allows to keep supporting climate solutions on the ground. We are beyond grateful to be able to distribute these funds through a lens of climate justice and the values that guide us: inclusivity, accessibility, reciprocity, optimism, and collectiveness. I was also honored to have met so many amazing women who have been inspirational for me. They show me that if they can be leaders, we can be leaders too. They have paved the way for young women like us to image a future with feminist leadership, with care, with resilience, and one where we are closer to balance with the Earth. I shared with them a message of pain— the pain our generation feels from the loss of Mother Earth, but also a message of courageous hope: co-imagining a better future is the only way to get closer to justice. Graça Machel said to me: “We already gave our lives to furthering justice, it’s our turn to pass the baton to those in your generation that are continuing our fight.” I feel that our role as climate activists is evolving— we are not just fighting for a better planet and a better future, we are inheriting the movements that were born before us, so that those after us
