@tiffintech: What is the difference between Docker and Virtual Machines? Virtual machines and Docker are both technologies used to run applications in isolated environments, but they work differently. A virtual machine (VM) is like a complete computer running inside your actual computer. It has its own operating system and uses a portion of your computer's resources to run as if it were a separate machine. Docker, on the other hand, uses containers. These containers share the host computer's operating system kernel but are isolated from each other. They're lighter and faster to start up than VMs because they don't need a full OS for each application. Think of VMs as separate apartments in a building, each with its own utilities, while Docker containers are more like efficient, self-contained rooms that share the building's main systems. #tech #technology #techexplained #stem #developer
In my team we dropped Docker, to much hassle to configure and update 😎, for devs it was easier to sudo install

Virtual machines virtualize a system. Containers virtualize a process and are immutable

Wrong comparisons - try containers which uses docker vs VM.

We use docker for deploying apps. But what do you think about using docker desktop for standardizing developer environments across larger teams. Thoughts, limitations, etc? VMs were too slow.

These are completely different technologies, containerization and a virtual computer are not the same at all, I don’t think you know what you’re talking about in a lot of your videos
