Love Midsummer. I agree, it’s a great beginner play. I teach it to my middle schoolers as their first Shakespeare play.

Midsummer was the first Shakespeare play I read when I was 12 and is forever my favorite! Would love to hear more about what you mean by "it's right there" with your choice to make Lysander a woman ☺️

I really wanna know why you don’t like the spaniel scene. I think it’s hard to watch for sure but I think if you’ve ever pined for somebody it’s quite accurate. Also I watched production where

As a Shakespeare actor myself I always find myself drawn to the stranger and darker elements of the comedies. What is your take on the “happy ending” in which Demetrius is still under a spell?

The play within the play never fails. No other work in English has ever produced more laughter.

I’ve always been so interested in the relationship between Theseus and Hippolyta. That marriage is far from consensual, and I always look to see how productions chose to interpret that.

You just blew my mind with the note about it taking place in the fall. I’m a former English teacher and I did NOT know that!

Midsummer will forever have my heart. I saw it as a kid performed in an outdoor venue so it was literally the middle of summer in the forest surrounded by fairies. Magical

It would be helpful for me if you included a quick plot overview. I suppose some might complain about spoiler alerts but these playas have been out hundreds of years.

What is the specific sexual connotation of “fierce?” My partner has that quote tattooed on her forearm. Of course she wouldn’t necessarily mind a sexual connotation depending on the context.

My favorite of the end speeches like Puck and Prospero’s is Rosalind’s in As You Like It, and I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about that play eventually
