Routh is facing charges of possessing a firearm as a felon (possible prison sentence of up to 15 years) and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. These charges stem from an incident Sunday at Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, FL. Routh is accused of hiding within the golf club for approx 12 hours, just waiting on the former president. A secret service agent claims to have seen holding the rifle, hiding in the shrubbery, just 300 to 500 yards away from Trump. Routh did not ever actually fire a shot, but the agent who spotted him did open fire on him.
