Every tarotist should have their own physical copy of this book. Seventy Eight Degrees of Widsom approaches the Tarot as a journey of our archetypes, Jung's concepts of the human psyche, introspection and self individuation, and even spirituality using the cards of the OG classic Rider Waite Smith deck. There is so much to learn about the symbolic system of tarot. It can (and probably should) be a lifelong journey. One of the best things I got from this book was learning how to trust myself to read intuitively. if you're looking to stick with tarot only as a divination or fortune telling tool then you may not benefit from it quite as much, but there are still so many great insights in it: masterful interpretations of the cards, the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana (*especially the Major*), symbolism, elements, the four suits, court cards, gate cards, tarot spreads, etc. It goes through the history of tarot (starting as a 15th century card game called Tarocchi in Italy but maybe having even earlier roots in Africa or Asia). I still reference this book all the time. 10/10 Highly recommend. Love this book. **Everyone's path with tarot is a unique and extremely personal experience. Yes, you CAN be a Christian and do tarot. You CAN be a Catholic and do tarot. Period. Not up for debate. If you disagree then you don't have the framework, the understanding, OR you just don't know the history of Christianity and the foundations that Christianity was built upon. Likewise, an atheist can do tarot. Agnostics, pagans, literally anyone. I don't use the cards for divination or fortune telling, but that's me. It is never ok to judge another person's spiritual or secular practices. 78 Degrees of Wisdom by author Rachel Pollack.
