@sheisapaigeturner: Replying to @Annie Chances are your boys aren’t doing chores because they didn’t see their dads doing them. Girls often pick up the slack because they see their moms model that behavior. It’s not just about teaching kids to help—it’s about setting the example. We need to expect men to take accountability and actively contribute in the home without needing to be asked. #raisingboys #boymom #divorcedwomen #mentalload #mentalloadofmotherhood #daughters #millennialmom #marriagehumor
When I moved with my bf, I made sure I only did girl chores. I don't take out trash, I don't do the heavy lifting, and clean what I dirtied. As stereotypical as that may sound, that's the way some of these men have to be taught. If they make it dirty, especially if you already cleaned, they need to handle it. AND NO, WORK IS NOT AN EXCUSE CUZ WE'RE ALL WORKING IN MY HOME. Im gonna clean regardless, was taught not to allow or condone a dirty house.

I do an exercise every night with all my kids (2 boys, 1 girl). I ask them to look around the main living spaces and find 2-3 things that need to be cleaned up. My kids will not exploit their spouses.

I loved one creator here gave her kids a specific chore for a year.If they did it badly they got that job for another 6 months WITH another chore so all kids learned how to operate the house

This is 100% accurate. My husband’s did their laundry growing up. So when we got married he asked me which big chore I liked the least and he would take it. I’m so thankful for the example his dad set

My husband takes out the trash, washes dishes every night, loads/unloads dishwasher & other things & all outside chores. My boys 18&14 still need to be specifically told.

I raised my sons on my own & we had a chore chart that rotated weekly. No reminders & no allowance. They are amazing partners & they know what it takes to run a household.
