Believe it or not, yes we did use maps back then. We look at it first before we leave, then take small glances to see what exits to take

You mentally note landmarks, intersections. Pretty easy actually. Us broke people who didn’t have a cpu to print mapquest, stop at gas station, open map in the store ($4.99), put it back (free)

Before MapQuest, etc. We looked at the map, mapped out the roads and turns to our destination, and drove. We remembered and were alert to exit signs, roads, etc.

People are being somewhat haughty about using memory w/o taking into account HOW MUCH info we have to process every day. I only remember phone #s from before ~2003.
