Guys guys please stop get in the car if the license plate don't match on the uber app. Plus asked the driver who they picking up. I have been park and people walk in my car like I'm uber! be smart .

I'm really so sorry this happened to you. To be clear, though, this was not a "cab." It was an Uber car service. They're not as safe (in my experience) as licensed yellow cabs or dispatchers. Be safe

NYC has car service where you call in and a dispatcher sends you a car. Been using that for twenty years and never had an issue and felt safe having a dispatcher in the background to call if anything.

This is insane. I’ve heard stories of this happening in Miami too. Uber has such a low barrier to entry, it doesn’t feel safe at all anymore. Curious if cab companies might be better bc it’s their full time job and they require a background check

Two things I’ve done to try to stay safe is always have the route on my google maps/being vigilant about following the route and I changed my picture to my twin brother 👀

I’m so sorry this happened to you. If you feel comfortable please report to Uber, get all the receipts you can, file a police report, everything. Uber can track his car and there should be cameras

Omg wait I have a similar story!!!!! I took an Uber and he took a long way to “avoid traffic” instead of going through Manhattan he went through New Jersey to get to bk😑 I was scared and shocked asf.

This happened to me when I was drunk and in a Lyft. I screenshotted the Lyft map. Lyft did nothing and police couldn’t do anything so I ended up filing a PUC complaint and they took care of it.

Same thing happened to me in 2020! Was going from Tribeca to the WV and my driver was acting very skittish and tried to take me through the Holland Tunnel. So glad you’re okay!
