@travelwithadamandabi: The Tower of London wasn’t just a prison - it was also a palace, a royal mint, a storehouse, a fortress and had essentially its own little town within the walls. That being said, it is most well known for those who went in never to return to the outside world again. Some of those deemed traitors to the crown entered through this water gate more commonly known as ‘traitors gate’. One tip if you do visit the tower, don’t forget to visit the memorial too (located today in Trinity Gardens) because hardly any died within tower walls itself, that was a special honour reserved for the most noble and royal prisoners. The rest had to make the short journey across to tower hill where both their stay and life ended. #fyp#trend#explore#travelcouple#ukdaysout#staycationuk#history#historylover#exploreengland#visitlondon#toweroflondon#towerhill#historytok
