@virginia_va: Backstory: This is my dog Odie and November of 2018 my dog lost all function of his back legs. I got home from work and I saw odie just struggling on the kitchen floor. My heart dropped and I picked him up and drove him to the nearest emergency VET. The Vet told me that Odie's condition was so severe that I had to get him to Penn Vet right away or else he could lose his mobility forever. It was life or death. It was 10pm and Penn Vet was 3 hours away and I was alone. I got in my car and drove him to Philadelphia and they ran tests on him until the next day. Based on Odie's MRI, he was diagnosed with IVDD. Which is intervertebral disc disease. I had two options: surgery which costs ($10,000) or treat with medication and hope for the best. I ended up going with the surgery since Odie was only 3 years old and I wanted to give him the best chance. It was such a hard time in my life: i had just gotten out of an abusive relationship and started over from stratch with living on my own. $10,000 was alot for me just living paycheck to paycheck.
