The 80s version of this was called “blush draping.” Blush was sold in a 3 shade kit: the center was the blush, the lighter shade was the “highlighter” and dark shade was the “contour.”

10 years ago a MUA at Chanel used two colors of the Le Beiges powder to do my entire face, and it was gorgeous. Used the darker color on my eyes, cheeks, and the lighter color for highlight.

Same with contouring with blush! I remember contouring with a rosy brown blush in my teens, I didn’t have a name for it, I just knew it made my cheekbones pop.

My mom gave me the Bobbi Brown teenage beauty book when I was a preteen. I outgrew it quickly because she had a lot of rules and I liked to experiment with my makeup 😅
