I used P plates for two days after passing. I got beeped at and targeted SO many times by angry male drivers. I took them off and have only been beeped at once in the last week

my mum wants me to put p plates on my car but I feel experienced drivers are going treat Ps the same as learners

P plates cause other drivers to treat you like a learner and do silly manoeuvres to get round you. With out them you just blend in and you soon find experienced drivers make mistakes too.

used P plates for a year. felt like it just gave other drivers a reason to cut me up to get ahead of me. understand L plates are compulsory and agree they should be, but P plates unnecessary to me

As an Australian I find this so interesting. We have to use L and P plates or we get fined and 2 demerit points. Theres definitely stigma about being on either plate but we don’t have a choice

I had I p Plate on after I passed as I wasn't a very confident driver.. plus it lets other drivers know that you have just passed your test and to be a bit more Patient with you on the road..

I was advised not to put one on as there was a concern that if anything was to happen that people would put the blame on me as I had just passed. Particularly in the case of insurance fraud

I found ut difficult going from my instructors car to our family car, so while I got used to it I used P plates. I am still not 100% confident not sure I ever will, but they are now off 2 months later

I passed in march and kept my P plate on for a week, I found people were less patient when I had them on so took them off.

used them because I passed and didn’t get a car for a few months so forgot how to drive especially driving a car i wasn’t used to -found it helpful and gave me confidence and I wasn’t targeted at all

I used p plates because I had really bad driving anxiety and wanted people to give me more time and space, I had it on for about 2 months but felt that people were worse with them on

Never used P plates. My opinion was if the examiner thought I was able to pass my test then I didn’t need it. Also feel like other drivers take the p plates as a way to treat folk badly

I'll not be putting a p plate on because you don't more pressure on yourself

I think P plates are worth it. Especially when you get your first car. You’ll be getting used to it and it won’t be anything like your instructors bran new 24 plate.

I've had my P plates on for about 4 months, passed awhile before getting my car and kept stalling it while I was getting used to the clutch

I used a P plate when I passed my test many years ago. The reason I used one was to let other drivers know that I was a new driver so hopefully they would be a bit more understanding if I made any mistakes or took longer than normal to do things like parking. I believe I used them until I gained confidence driving on my own without having the reassurance of my driving instructor.

I didn’t use a P plate, I was a very confident driver very early on, however, I feel P plates should be mandatory for the first 6 months after you pass your test, I feel accident rates might go down.

I still use my p plate but only in the back because people actually keep their distance in my area

Used a P plate as I wanted people to know like stay behind a bit just in case but ended up talking it off after a week as people would just see it then pull out, overtake, beep at me so it was more -

I think when I’m gonna pass I’m not gonna have a p plate cuz you have to blend in with the rest and not have everyone being so considerate about you

I used them for about a week, was beeped at junctions, roundabouts etc constantly, took them off and blissful silence 🔕, I do feel like they make you a target for impatient drivers
