@allsidespressurewashing: This Customer Waited Until I Started Then Asked For A Discount #pressurewashing #pressurewashingbusiness #pressurewashingtipsandtricks #pressurewashingforbeginners #pressurewasher #pressurewashingvideo #pressurewashingtips
Charge by the job, but when you say 3 days it gives them a clue of how bad it is, when you then say 2 days, the work isnt that hard anymore and I’d ask for a discount as well

I agree with the customer. Over estimating the time can also mean you over estimated the price since you are billing for your time.

Charge by the job and not by the hour!

The customer’s logic is reasonable. You did said you made an error , overestimated 3 days so most likely you would included three days of labour in your original quote.

if it took 4 days instead of 3 I'm betting the customer wouldn't pay 33% more.

He should have just slowed down and dragged it into the 3rd day so customer remains happy! Even on the 3rd day u are only there for a few hours!!

I would start getting payments up front, with specific language in the contract stating that cost is billed by the job & not time. Maybe a verbal, “This job is $897 whether it takes 2 or 3 days.”

I agree. Quote doesnt change. You pay for the labor. You pay for the skill, knowledge, experience, efficiency, productivity, the time, materials used & resources. Expectations are everything though.

So if you took your vehicle to a mechanic and they said it’s gonna take them 9 hours to fix and you agree and they fix in 6 you don’t say anything?

The worst thing about owning your own company is everybody wants something for nothing and you’ll also have that customer every once in a while that just won’t pay their bills

well if it took 16 hours instead of 24, I think the customer should pay the rate for a 16 hour job or at least compromise at 20 hours

If I ever estimated a job to take 3 days and it only took 2 I would most definitely cut them a discount.

it all depends on how the estimate was made. if it was a flat fees for various jobs or if it was decided on man hours. regardless no one wants to pay more and no one wants to work for less.

I would think it reasonable to ask for a discount when done a day early. quoting by the job starts with an hourly rate right. pricing it so any work has profit and now has a whole 8hrs of free profit

You should've made your work slower so that it will be extended to 3 days.
