My parents had a rule that we had to either be in our bedrooms or basement playroom whenever they had guests over & weren't allowed in the common areas of the house for any reason.

my Mom/Nana don't wash clothes during the week of new years as to not "Wash family members out of your life". they did this because they lost both of my grandparents the same year 30 years ago.

When I was 16 I wanted to get my nose pierced. My mom said no, but she would let me get a tattoo. So I got the tattoo then a month later I had my moms friend pierce my nose.

the no black swim suit one was probably a misunderstanding or something. like mom said no to a particular swim suit because she found it inappropriate for an 11 year old and it happened to be black.
