@sydbastfitness: I often get questions about nutrition, dieting, what I eat, how I eat so much, and if I ever track my food... 🍳I really dislike the word “diet” because there’s nothing sustainable about it 🥑 I’m all about simple but nutritious meals 🫐 I only track when I’m trying to make a change (gain or lose weight) and want to take a deeper dive into my current nutritional intake to see what I need to change. For the most part, I know what my maintenance calories are and how to eat for that 🥒 I eat “a lot” because my body needs it! My most common recommendations for anyone looking to improve their nutrition are to keep it simple, use foods you already love just modify the portion or preparation, and soft prep easy grab and go items. If nothing else, eat… 🍗 more protein than you think (100+ g per day) 🥗 as many veggies and fruits as you can manage 🍉 as little processed foods as possible Once a week I carve out an hour or two to “prep” foods for the week that truly make our weeks go SO much smoother. Weekly essentials prepped in our house: 1. Homemade protein muffins 2. Homemade protein waffles or pancakes 3. A large pot of homemade pinto beans 4. Rinsed and prepped salad- romaine, carrots, cucumbers 5. Loaf or two of bread Snacks we always have on hand 1. Fresh fruit 2. Chomps sticks 3. String cheese 4. Perfect bars 5. Nut butter for bread, with fruits, or veggies Now, our family loves these foods and we love leftovers. We could eat variations of Mexican food and protein packed breakfasts all day every day, but that doesn’t mean it has to be everyone’s favorite. It’s just what works best for us!
