She is recognized as a primordial entity who has taken on different roles throughout Egyptian history and that many goddesses after her are actually an "extension" of her. She is linked to love, beauty, fertility, motherhood, music, dance, sexuality, femininity, childbirth, wine, gratitude, rulership and death. She has her bloodthirsty side, as this goddess is one of those who has taken on the role of the "eye of Ra". She has also taken the role of mother and wife of Horus.
