You wouldn’t want all the salt concentrated in one spot, right? Instead, you’d want it evenly distributed to bring out the flavor of the entire dish. In photography/cinematography, the frame is your “dish,” and the subject is like a key ingredient—let’s say the vegetables. If you pile all the vegetables in the center of the bowl, the dish might look unbalanced. But if you spread them out thoughtfully, placing some along natural lines in the soup, it creates a more appealing, balanced presentation. The rule of thirds works similarly. Instead of placing your subject in the center (like all the vegetables in one spot), you imagine your frame divided into a 3x3 grid and position the subject along one of the lines or where two lines intersect.
