@blossomandbranchfarm: 🚨!! IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR! The time when wreaths of invasives like oriental bittersweet and tansy start to appear—eep!! Not only does foraging invasive plants spread seeds into new areas (leading to increases in invasive populations), cutting them also rejuvenates and reinvigorates them, leading to more growth the following year. It can also be illegal in many areas!! Instead, try making a wreath of native plants to aid in seed dispersal and give the birdies a winter treat. NOTE: please always practice responsible foraging: best to forage on private property like your own or a neighbor’s, with permission of course! Always know WHAT you are foraging; download a plant ID app like PictureThis! Foraging in parks and roadsides is often illegal and can be damaging for those ecosystems! In this wreath, we used a mix of: -Virginia creeper (we are always pulling it back from the trees!) -pearly everlasting -yarrow -echinacea -mountain mint -aster -anise hyssop -northern sea oats When the wind blows or birds peck at this wreath (which are always welcome in our garden), they help spread seeds of these desirable native species instead of invasives! Please like and share to help spread awareness! #Sustainabledecor #InvasivePlants #FallDecor #nativeplants #foraging #autumn #fall #gardening
