They have been shown to cause cellular damage, DNA damage, and Red 40 has been linked to attention deficit issues in children (studies cited below). - And while Cheerios markets themselves as a heart healthy cereal and the ingredients actually check out - the issue is with the herbicide used in their oat crops… - In 2019, the EWG ran tests on oat based cereals and tested for glyphosate residuals. The two highest levels of glyphosate were found in Honey Nut Cheerios Medley Crunch, with 833 parts per billion, or ppb, and Cheerios, with 729 ppb. The EWG children’s health benchmark is 160 ppb. - The ingredient used in Roundup, which is sprayed on oats before harvest as a drying agent, was classified as
