I would argue and say there is some good money in trucking. Yes even when I break it down to hourly pay. I’m in a niche freight market. Not many do it so it pays well

It can be an asset, That is why some small fleets trade in for new when they hit a threshold, keep the worth up, rather than bank without payments with the old truck.
