If your maintenance actually fixes things and does quality work sure. I ended up doing a bunch to my apartment that technically went against my lease terms just so it was nicer to live in

yep home ownership does have those responsibilities. Long-term it does build up net worth though.

While I understand your point, I can pretty much do the same thing as a homeowner (get someone else to deal with it), it just costs $$$. Even if I fully account for this $$$, my home has been worth it
