You’re seeing the veins (not the arteries) fill up abnormally during systole - the right venticle is abnormally pumping blood back into the veins with each heartbeat. They then empty during diastole. Recall the main ligaments of the knee: 🦵Anterior cruciate - prevents anterior translation of the tibia 🦵Posterior cruciate - prevents posterior translation of the tibia 🦵Medial collateral - prevents excessive valgus displacement 🦵Lateral collateral ligament - prevents excessive varus displacement Here we can see excessive anterior displacement of the tibia, indicating a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament! 💡 If combined with excessive valgus displacement AND a medial meniscus injury, this would be the three features of the ‘unhappy triad’!
