@amourhairvideos: I know ita controversial, but Heat styling has helped me retain iinnnncchhheessss. #lowporosityhair #naturalhair #naturalhairgrowth #hairgrowth #hairgrowthtips #hairtransformation #haircare #naturalhaircommunity #longhair
How do you maintain this when you workout? I tend to keep my hair curly because my roots lift so quickly when I’m going to the gym

Yes I agree my hair has grown a lot like this and with protective styles overnight.

Heat styling CAN be great for length retention but not necessarily the best for health and strength of curls.

My hair grew the longest when I started getting weekly blowouts and not doing anything else

Been natural forever, just recently cut my locs. When I’m ready to grow my hair out I’m gonna be a straight natural. I kinda was before but I’m glad it “a thing” now. Love it. Your hair is beautiful.

Yup my natural 4b hair has been tailbone length for years due to heat styling. It’s the only way I retain length.

Ok same! I didn't put heat on my hair for almost a year and felt like it got shorter from all the constant detangling

Your hair is beautiful! I’m a straight natural and my hair does well also but I don’t think it’s the heat that does it. I think it’s the fact that I use quality products that provide moisture to wash well, deep condition, use heat protectant, and don’t use super high heat to straighten. Then other than wrapping I don’t touch it until the next wash day. Anything that allows for days of low to no manipulation is the key for retention of textured hair and of course caring for it properly and consistently with the right products. No matter the style even if no heat is used, if the hair is left dry and dirty and always getting messed with, tugged and pulled, it will break.

Who ME :
My hair only grows when I get consistent blowouts at the shop. Every time I try to just do heat free I get so many knots and have so much breakage and split ends

I have high density and coarse haired clients. Although I advocate for simplistic styling and wearing it in its curly state. There’s no way I’d wear my hair curly with high density, long, coarse hair!

Yup without it my single strand knots are endless. I have fine, dense, 4c hair, and once my hair got past my shoulders, the shrinkage causes so many fairy knots and endless breakage.

i think if you’re not restyling with heat every day, trimming regularly, using protectant it can be!
