the 6 pounder is a great gun, but the British didn't believe in APHE for their anti tank guns. so they relied on shrapnel with those sabot rounds.

war office still thought it be easier at the start if the war to make the existing 2 pounders at the start of the war as it was easier and cheaper to make more of them
