Algorithms feed on human nature which makes sense because they are based on data collected from people's behaviours online, so yes that's normal because our brains are more interested in problems.

I think it’s less that people enjoy negative content more but more that negative discussion promotes more debate and discourse. Good things are more commonly agreed upon and require less thinking1/2
