I have 4 boys. I wanted to donate winter boots. They never wore because teenagers don't wear winter boots.
So I tried to find a man shelter that would take them. There isn't.
Any anywhere!!!

I think many people donate clothing that probably should be thrown away. They may not be used to receiving items that people can actually use. And then they have to pay to throw away many donations.

I understand why they ask. If someone who takes in donations, we get a lot of things that should have gone in the garbage. I’m sorry you had that experience. Keep trying.

How about a rehab center? My boyfriend works in one and he said they could always use clothes because when patients come in, all there stuff is taken away and they don’t have stuff to wear.

I’m sorry this happened. Here in Canada, we have boxes that we can drop donations off in at a lot of parking lots in malls. Also, a couple friends collect donations for women’s shelters, so it’s easy

We have a place in our town that allows people who need clothes “shop” for free. Maybe you have that near you?!

I don't know if you have tiny op shops for charities over there. Here, I take my things to the Cats Protection League. They price fairly so people can get things they need & the $ goes to help cats.

Most schools have “closets” to help kids that need clothing. Also check your local church’s that keep things for people as well.

As a small business reseller but also struggled my entire life to dig my family out of the hole, I received a very large donation of quality clothes

Here’s the thing people use donation as a way to just get rid of everything and don’t separate out the trash and then these places have to deal with it sometimes at a cost.

My mom passed. I took all her clothes & shoes to a local church that has a thrift store for homeless/people in need. They were so thankful. Even asked tell me about your mom.

Dam. Unbelievable. 😯
I usually donate them into charity shops, they are not going to homeless people, but at least to people who can't buy stuff too expensive.

Yes girl. The writing on the back of an GW employee’s tshirt the other day said “A hand up, not a hand out”. That says it all!

Local nursing homes and assisted-living would probably take it. A lot of their residents only have around $50 a month of spending money or families that don’t buy them new clothing
