@tomdraperacting: As actors, especially when we’re given smaller roles, we often feel the urge to add more to the performance—to make it stand out. But sometimes, the best thing we can do is simply trust the material. We want to squeeze extra meaning into a line or take a dramatic pause before delivering a joke, thinking we need to do more to make an impact. However, in those co-star roles, it's not about stealing the scene. It's about seamlessly fitting into the flow. Acting in these moments is like jumping into a river. The story, genre, and piece are already moving, and you’re just a part of it. Whether you're delivering a crucial piece of information or something as simple as taking a coffee order, your job is to fit into that story naturally and without overworking the moment. When you stop trying to make a mountain out of a simple line, the true artistry shines through. Trust that the material, the story, and your performance are enough. Let the river carry you. In doing so, you’ll be more connected, authentic, and ultimately a stronger actor. #acting #actor #actingcoach #actingtips
