Ugh, I’m a step kid a stepmother hated. Had to tolerate her for about 20 years. Definitely impacted my mental health negatively.

Lol, this lady thinks she has any idea. I wouldn’t use the word ‘hate,’ but wait until a teenager walks into your house afyer being around his high conflict bio mother, and starts lying, twisting stories, and emotionally blackmailing your husband to get their way. Then they start planting seeds with your kids, trying to turn them against you and normalize disrespect in your own home. They’re used to getting what they want, and if they don’t, they threaten not to visit, it’s calculated, and it changes the whole atmosphere in the house. Hate is still wrong but people vent and you weren't there and this just comes off as tone deaf

huge statistic. of all the factors that lead to abuse - think alcoholusm, etc. the variable that raises chances 100x more than any other - the presence of a stepparent in the home

I have the opposite problem. I love my step kids but they were severely abused by their bio mom and they are verbally abusive towards me. It’s hard being a loving supportive step parent ❤️

What type of parent lets another person be mean and mistreat their kids? I have 2 and one of them is in prison. They've made my life better. I'm a nana now too because of it. Love them like my own ♥️

You also have to be mature enough to not go to social media down talking the bio parent because imagine the hurt the kids feel seeing their parent be portrayed as the villain. I’m a step parent and love them as if they’re mine and it’s not always easy but in order to truly love your step kids there is a certain level of respect you should have for the bio parent .
