Growing your own food is one of the absolute best ways to SAVE money! For us, it’s indoor gardening & it's a great way to get freshness into your life when you can’t grow anything outside. OUR SET UP 2 years ago, we bought a grow tent. We made the investment, because we knew we were going to use it for many years. The tent is set up in our garage which is cold. Turns out, hydroponics works amazingly with cold temps. We do run a small heater, but only intermittently to keep temperature in the range of 10-15°C. BUG FREE Since it’s hydroponics and we start our plants from seeds, it is a bug free zone. Though if you’re not careful, there is a risk of you bringing in bugs like aphids when outdoor plants are brought indoors. Integrated pest management is something you should be implementing with your indoor garden. LIGHTS I have plants near a bright window and it does work, but the space is limited. My grow tent is also used to start my seedlings for our outdoor garden. It allows us to start our seedlings very early and with great results. Electricity for a single light can cost about $6-10 per month but if you maximize your area, you can grow a lot of veggies, which makes up for the costs. AIRFLOW If you’re growing indoors, air flow is important to control moisture and prevent mold. A fan is a good start, but last year I noticed I was not circulating air properly inside the tent. We added an inline duct fan to pull air out of the tent. With an open vent at the bottom of the tent, fresh air circulates. Plants are looking much healthier. If you’re thinking this all must cost a lot of $. Well, you can start small or there’s DIY’s that you can do to cut your cost. For us, it’s an investment that pays off big. We haven’t bought any greens from the store in a long time and with the cost of food, It’s making more sense to start growing your own. If you want to learn more about the equipment used in this video, it’s from @Vivosun official I’ve added a direct link in our bio. #gardentok #fy #lovewhatyougrow #vivosun #sponsored
