But as of today, he has been indicted after a federal corruption investigation. The indictment is SEALED so charges are unknown BUT The NYTimes reported that prosecutors have been focusing on alleged communications between Mayor Adams/his campaign and the Turkish government. 👀 If Adams chooses to resign, it would be somewhat historic because only two NYC mayors have ever resigned — Jimmy Walker in 1932 and William O’Dwyer in 1950. Both resignations came after corruption scandals. Adams resignation would hypothetically make Jumaane Williams, the city’s public advocate, the acting mayor. This would be the first time in history that the city’s public advocate becomes acting mayor.
