They have them in America. They call them Black & White. They usually have one side chocolate glaze and the other half is lemon or vanilla not sure.

To be fair, in america they sell "German Cake" with pecan and coconut 'frosting' and i have never seen that Here 😂 i Just saw that Yesterday and i was confused in German

The American one looks like the black and white cookies (but with all white icing) you get from a Jewish deli in the states 🙃. The Berliner is definitely a jelly doughnut 😅🤣

The original "Amerikaner" Version was black+White (sugar+chocolate) and THAT is what i in my childhood in the 80s in W-Germany got. I associate it with the GIs we see, black+white.
