@thehomesteadingrd: 🍎 Apple season is HERE and I’m all for it. Here’s 4 EASY ways that I’m preserving them to enjoy all year long: 1) Dehydrated slices - great for throwing in oatmeal. Ryan’s favorite! 2) Canned applesauce - I still have 7 jars left from last year, but we go through A LOT of applesauce so I definitely need to restock for the year. Truly, there’s no need to add sugar; they are sweet enough on their own! 3) Freeze dried slices - perfect for snacking, or rehydrate them to bake an apple crisp! 4) Ferment the skins and peels into apple scrap vinegar - nothing goes to waste around here! I posted a reel a few days ago on how to make this While fresh apples are best stored in a cool location like a root cellar, it’s hard to find those nowadays. Thankfully, a spare fridge works great, too! I try to pack ~30 lbs away for fresh eating all winter. My next goal is to make our own hard apple cider! I got an apple press for Christmas last year - I can’t wait to give it a go! Stay tuned 🤩. What other methods am I missing? What are your favorites?
