Our Hurricane Helene evacuees arrived safe and sound after a long day of travel! 🌀 On Wednesday, September 25th, our team departed the shelter to meet a transport company in Ocala, FL to pick up 32 animals transferred from other shelters in North Florida. The animals are coming from shelters that do not have safe indoor enclosures for them. There is potential for flooding and power outages, so we must help these shelters in their time of need. The facilities are over 400 miles away and are preparing for the major storm. 🙏 We are doing our best to make them feel safe and comfortable while they wait for their forever families. They seem to be enjoying their stuffed animals, treats, and the central air conditioning! Our hope is to give the dogs time to settle in and have them available for adoption, possibly by the weekend. All of the pets are being looked at by our veterinary clinic before being made available for adoption.
